RACE

Takuma Sato did exactly what he had planned on Sunday and brought his Super Aguri-Honda SA08A safely to the finish. He was classified in 17th place.

Takuma Sato:

"I had an eventful few opening laps and I really enjoyed going through the middle of the pack. I had a little bit of contact and possibly damaged the aero, but nevertheless I got up to 14th position and that was exciting. After the first lap there was quite a lot of oil on the track and that was a dangerous situation, but we got over it and I think that we had a good race. We had a problem in the second pitstop, which cost me position, but in the end it was very important that we finished the race here today and hopefully we can keep up the momentum."

QUALIFYING

Takuma Sato and the Super Aguri F1 team made steady progress during free practice this morning and Taku was satisfied with the improvements made overnight. Having found a better balance for qualifying, Taku was pushing when he spun in the final corner and unfortunately ended the session prematurely.

Takuma Sato:

"We made good progress as a result of the overnight changes and the car came together during Free Practice this morning and I was happy with the balance. During Qualifying my first run was a little bit slippery, but reasonable. I was much happier during my second run with the grip and I had a good feeling until the very last corner. Then I was touching on the outside kerb and the car ran wide and snapped quickly away from me. It is very disappointing that I could not complete Qualifying, but hopefully we will show strong pace for the race tomorrow."

03.04.2008 FRI

PRACTICE

It was what has become a typical Friday for Takuma Sato and the Super Aguri F1 team, with a controlled testing programme dictating limited track time. Despite that Taku did 6 laps in FP1 and 24 tours in FP2. His best time was a 1 minute 35.288 seconds.

Takuma Sato:

"It was not an easy day. We struggled to get the balance right in the car as through the laps the balance was changing quite a lot and we did not have enough time to complete our evaluations or to develop the set-up. We are working with a tyre one-step softer than last year, so the comparison was interesting between the medium and soft tyres today, and both are working well. However, we need to work hard to get the car balance right for tomorrow."
