The Super Aguri F1 team endured a challenging race at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, with Sakon Yamamoto retiring early and a hydraulic problem forcing Takuma Sato to start the Italian Grand Prix from the pits in the T-car. Later in the race, Taku struggled with the handling of his SA06 after the floor delaminated, but still brought the car home ahead of the team's nearest rivals.

　 "It was a hard race for us. We had a hydraulic problem on the way to the grid, so I had to abort the lap, come back to the pit, change into the T-car and start from the pit-lane. We were carrying fuel for a one-stop strategy and everything seemed okay at first, so I just tried to catch-up with the group up and overtake the cars in front. We had good pace and it looked like we had a strong package - it was encouraging to catch the Midlands gradually. But I started to struggle with a chassis-related problem and, after about 20 laps, you can see that my lap times fell two seconds off the pace immediately. I did all I could just to stay on the circuit, come back to the pit and do the tyre change, but I realised that I must have a serious problem. After the race, we could see that the floor had delaminated, so I lost a huge amount of downforce. It is a shame, again, that we couldn't show the full potential of the SA06, but I think everybody has worked hard and, obviously, we have got to solve these problems. During the next two weeks, we go to the Silverstone test, which is incredibly important for us for the last three races. I believe that we can improve the car there."

　 The Super Aguri F1 team will start from the eleventh row of the grid at the Italian Grand Prix.

　 "It has been a disappointing day. We completed our test here last week and did everything we could, but the car has just not been quick enough this weekend. The team has worked really hard and I believe that we have got the best performance out of the car, so from that point of view I am satisfied, but we need to improve. Having said that the free practice session this morning was encouraging, the long run pace was strong and so I think that we shall have a better day tomorrow and should have a strong package for the race."

　 The Super Aguri F1 team made a good start to its Italian Grand Prix weekend with both Takuma Sato and Sakon Yamamoto completing their respective testing programmes and third driver Franck Montagny taking the team's highest-ever position, despite encountering a gearbox issue during the morning session.

　 "The team has done a lot of work since the last Monza test and it was good to see how the car had improved today. As a team, we encountered a few problems, but I had a quite trouble-free day and completed our required programme. It was very good to see the running of the third car, which has collected important data from the tyres and has shown very good performance and what the car can do. Obviously, we will continue to work on improving the set-up for even better performance tomorrow."
