RACE
The Super Aguri F1 team finished its inaugural year with its best race to date, after Takuma Sato claimed tenth place in the Brazilian GP at Interlagos. Team-mate Sakon Yamamoto completed the two-car finish by taking the chequered flag in 16th position, and even set the seventh fastest lap of the race. Takuma was ninth fastest in what turned out to be a gripping grand prix that brought to an end a challenging season for the fledgling team.
Takuma Sato:"This is an absolutely fantastic result. Following our performance in Suzuka, we couldn't have asked for anything more. This was another great team effort and the mechanics did a fantastic job in the pit-stops. I felt comfortable in the car and so I really enjoyed it. At the start of the race, I was taking the corners side-by-side with the other cars and we overtook the Red Bull and Spyker cars. After the safety car went in, we were really able to push and take it to the two Toro Rossos so, for the whole time I was racing, and I really, really enjoyed it. A big thanks to all the team, it has been a long and hard season, and I'm very happy to finish in tenth position for the last race of the year."

QUALIFYING
The final free practice session of the 2006 season saw Super AGuri F1's Takuma Sato ahead of the Spyker MF1 team, the Red Bull of David Coulthard and Jarno Trulli's Toyota. It wasn't quite the same story in qualifying, but only 2.7secs separated the top and bottom of the timesheets as Taku bowed out of Q1 in 20th spot.
"It was good to have a close and competitive qualifying at the end of the season. Today, in free practice, we made good progress that we carried over from yesterday and we were happy with the performance of the car. In qualifying, we improved our lap time again, but it was unfortunate that we could not beat our nearest rivals. However, I believe that we have a good race car and that we are in a good position for tomorrow."

PRACTICE
Super Aguri F1 made a good start to the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend at Interlagos, completing its planned Friday programme, and seeing third driver Franck Montagny set the ninth fastest time of the day on his last outing for the team. Takuma Sato also completed a large number of laps, and was happy with the team's progress.
Takuma Sato:"It was a good start to the weekend. We made good progress during both sessions and we felt comfortable with that. Interlagos is a bumpy track and always challenging for the drivers and demanding for the car set-up, but our car seems to be working well. I believe that we can carry over today's progress to tomorrow."
