RACE
The Super Aguri team had its morale tempered slightly by its experiences at the Hungaroring, with Anthony Davidson retiring with rear suspension failure and Takuma Sato struggling to find grip after a promising start. The Japanese ace was only able to pick up the pace following his final pit-stop, eventually compelting the Hungarian Grand Prix in 15th position.
Takuma Sato:“ It was quite an exciting start and I got off the line well. Through the first few turns, I was side-by-side with a couple of cars and made up some positions, so that was really good. But then I struggled with low grip and the car started to slide with the heavy fuel and this continued to halfway through the race. On the third stint, with the super-soft tyre, the car had much better balance and a lot more grip, so it was really fun to drive. The lap times were very competitive, so it is a shame that we didn’t have anybody to race with on the last stint, but at least it was a better day and, overall, it was hard, but a good race. ”

QUALIFYING
Although Super Aguri team-mate Anthony Davidson made it through to the second qualifying session at the Hungaroring, Takuma Sato’s chances of joining him were foiled by a long visit to the weighbridge during Q1, leaving him 19th on the grid.
Takuma Sato:“ It was a tough qualifying. We planned to do three runs. The first one was to check the car from the practice, because I wasn’t really happy with the balance, so we wanted to check the car with the prime tyre. I then got called to the weighbridge, which took an unusually long time because, when I had to go back into position to fire up, the marshals put me in the wrong position, so I had to back up again. So we then lost the opportunity to go for the first planned option tyre run, so I only had one opportunity in the end with the proper qualifying fuel on board. It was a decent lap, but then unfortunately it was quite gusty and the wind upset the balance of the car and I had a massive wash out and ran wide. Hopefully though, the car is performing well and I hope that we can have a good race tomorrow. ”

PRACTICE
In the summer heat at the Hungaroring, near the vibrant city of Budapest, the Super Aguri team commenced its 2007 Hungarian Grand Prix challenge with Anthony Davidson 15th fastest and Takuma Sato 17th.
Takuma Sato:“ It was a good test day. At the beginning of the first session, the track was dusty and 'green', with very low grip, so we waited for half an hour for the track to improve before going out again. I then ran through most of the programme and we had a good morning. It was a busy session in the afternoon. We ran through our normal Friday routine and completed the back-to-back tyre programme, but unfortunately I had a small mechanical issue during running, there was a bit of rain and also, during my last quick lap, I encountered the yellow flag issue. But, all in all, I think that we have collected some important data today. ”
